DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Commerce and Management has become the lifeline and an essential component for the well-being of a country, the level of development of a country, organization, society, including the personal growth of an individual.
The growing importance of commerce and management has propounded the necessity of human resource with business and management skills along with research oriented attitude. Hyderabad Karnataka Education Sociey’s, Smt. V G College for Women has initiated the endeavors to fulfil the gap of demand and supply of well qualified human resource and established the Department of Commerce and Management in 2009 with the course Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). In the year 2013, started another course i.e, the Bachelor of Commerce (B Com). Both BBA and B Com courses are three year duration program of six semesters which are affiliated to Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women University, Vijayapura. The department is devoted to impart knowledge as well as social values for overall development.
Department was started with the motive, “To be a supreme center for academic excellence and to ensure better quality education to its prospective learners”. The course makes an attempt to impart managerial skills to the graduates and nurture entrepreneurial competencies to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. The course prepares the person not only to recognize managerial problems in its right perspective but also to formulate responses to them in a systematic and integrated manner.
Department mainly focuses on enlightening the students by updating them with the knowledge of latest industrial and market developments.
From 2009 to till date , the department has stood First to the University thrice and with a total of 38 Ranks.

The Department of Commerce and Management organizes Certificate Courses in ComputerisedAccounting(Tally) and Spoken English. In the coming years, it has planned to add few more certificate courses like Event Management, Basics of Banking Operations, Basics of Taxation, Entrepreneurship Skill Development, Hotel Management and Hospital Management.
Events like Seminars, Workshop, Group discussions, Role Play, Field work, extension activities, case study, projects , industrial tours etc are organised to boost the self-confidence, professional skills & inculcate a high level of self-esteem amongst the students.

Program Outcomes for B COM:
PO 1: After completing three years for Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com) program,

1. The course aims to give students basic knowledge and skills to continue with advanced
studies in industrial economics.

6.5 Cost Accounting – II:
1. To keep the students conversant with the ever – enlarging frontiers of Cost Accounting
